    Arrived at Las Palmas at 10am and it was beautifully warm. We set off through the city to the lovely long beach area.     ... not surprising since they are in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
    There is a huge hotel here that has 2000 rooms but only 6 storeys high.......very sprawling with lots of gardens.
    Nearly one half of the island is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve.......especially the area of the sand dunes where we were to protect the birds and fish that live there. People are not allowed in. We were impressed by this.
