Fun fact about the Spanish Canary Islands. They are closer to Africa than they are to Spain. One of the Islands is also the birth place of that language composed seulement of whistling! Very Very cool!

After that we drove up the coast to Playa de San Juan and then Puerto Santiago for a great late lunch. On the way home we stopped at Los Cristianos for a look around but it seemed to just be the same as Playa de las Americas but circa 1976. Our next shore stop was Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands.
This is a major big city. While the island of Lanzarote is around 140,000, Santa Cruz on the island of Tenerife is over 200,000 people alone. Again, the modern city structures are unbelievable since all of the products to build had to be shipped in. When we arrived it Manchester, it took absolutely ages waiting at the luggage carousel for our cases to arrive. Then it was onto the shuttle bus and back to the long-term car parking, where we picked up our Vauxhall Meriva for the drive back to Durham.
