... went through the town starting at 2pm and all the shops and stores were closed. We soon found out that the businesses close from 2pm to 6pm and it was best to do any shopping in the morning. We explored Naoussa's small port, a ruin of a Venetian Castle at the end of the breakwater and the narrow alleys/paths within the city. There were numerous artsy craft stores and funky cafes that attracted our attention, but all were closed for the season. This is one of ...

After a night of sleeping in a king size bed with a feather topped mattress I had a BIG breakfast. I figured that I'd eat up big in the morning, skip lunch and then have seafood dinner.

I walked into Naousa, the local town. It took about 20 mins with all the photo stops. It's quite strange how these islands are so much like our Australian outback ... Stony, dry, spinifix covered hills but by the sea. Not the image of 'Island' we have ... ...

After a few pictures of this we got back on the coach and used the north coast road to get back to ...

... and found a car hire place near the main square. Here i decided to hire a buggy. Very simple to use and easy to hire. I then left the town after getting some petrol. Driving along the main road heading towards the beach, my hat blew off and disappeared – there was too much traffic so i could not stop. Goodbye hat. I drove through a small village then past some touristy parts of the beach, then along a dirt road that became very bumpy. Soon i arrived at Plaka beach. I found that the ...

... of people waiting for the ferry. The ferry was only 5 minutes late.

I got on, left my bags in storage and found a seat. Once on i sat, used the internet, updated and ate lunch – left over cold pizza. I also did some reading. It was only a 45 minute trip and as soon as the ferry arrived in Naxos i got off, grabbing my bags and heading for the dock. I had found out that the hotel/hostel sends a van to ...
