... through Fallon, she needed some water and asked an older man who was walking along if there was anywhere in town to fill her water bottle. He looked a little puzzled and said she could fill it up at his house which was about a block away. So she did! We didn’t see anyone walking along whom we could ask for food, though, so we rode back to the frontage road and continued on.

What a whirlwind of the last few days. The Badlands.. nuff said. There's not much to say but.. WOW! We stumbled upon a free tour and learned about the erosion of the upper prairie and growth of the lower. One day the two will meet and will become flatlands. But no worries, it won't happen anytime soon. We also found out that the highest peaks are the youngest editions to the badlands. The yellow tinted rock is limonite while the red is hematite. It may sound weird, but when you've been on the road long enough nothing sounds weird. I see room numbers. Hotel room numbers. Fairmont San Francisco room numbers. Examples from today include mile 320, a balcony suite, maybe the Tangier? I can't remember. 437, don't stay in room 437, full size bed, you can hardly open the bathroom door. 451, double bedded, with a separate room for each bed, pretty cool setup. The mind goes ...
