Very interesting city it is still carrying the signs of the past (murales and a lot of gates). We visited the Titanic Pump House...cool!

This past weekend our school took a trip up to Northern Ireland. We were all very excited because we had spent a lot of time learning about the history of N.I. We also could not WAIT for the free food and nice beds at the hotel (we have learned what a luxury this is!)
We left early Thursday morning, January 21st, from the center of...
It wasn't the brightest of days but determined we were to get our for a walk with Finn, our loyal wonderful dog. It is Belfast in the winter, a bit gray, a bit wet, a bit cool. Em..could say that in the summer as well. As we drove off our mountain into town down the Crumlin Road the rain got a wee bit heavier and me being in a sort of fair weath...

The city is just like any other Western European city with the high street shops, arcutecture, museums and history. The mesuem in the botantical gardens offered a really good history of Northern Ireland's troubled past as well as an more in depth history as to it's founders and travellers.
For an excellent night out I recommend:
I have a dirty little secret. I LOVE cricket!
I also have a particular fancy for my adopted nation's cricket team. When i saw the fixture between Ireland and England way back in February this year, i knew i had to be there.
I'd been wanting to book my flights for months. As dodgy as they are, Ryan Air had them for £20 return. Barg...
It wasn't an easy secret to keep for 6 months! It all happened in Honduras on Christmas eve and made for a lovely Christmas so far from home. We told people we met along the way and swore them to secrecy...they did a good job! Here are the photos of where it happened and the ring at the time.....
Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom dixieannieBreakfast at The York included yummy, made to order French toast and an omelet, as well as a selection of fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, and juices from the food bar. Craftily, I wrapped slices of prosciutto around thick sticks of smoked Gouda and covered them individually in plastic wrap. I also stashed away a handful of fresh strawberries and f...
Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom stellastotNow I'm home and have time to reflect on the whole experience and endless time to spend on the net without running out of credit I can finally fill you in on some thoughts I had along the way and what I'm thinking now that's it's over (boo.) I can only write properly when I'm stood still long enough to absorb all that's going on. I have to remin...
Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom lou82We left the house EARLY! Drove to Stansted Airport and hopped a plane to Belfast. Our first stop after ditching the rental car was the Crown Bar. This place was very cool. There are little rooms around all of the tables called snugs. It has been taken over by the National Trust who restored it. We had lunch in one of the snugs, it was really coo...

Breakf Breakfast was at The Bistro, in the hotel.. The chocolate muffins were sooo good, as was everything else on the huge buffet. Everyone is early this morning, since they didn't walk the 2 blocks to Peadar's last night. Jim hung out in the Lime Tree and said it was very "yuppie" but social. Tonight two good bars in Belfast, and one I will m...
