... was a huge boat and a great day for it, and it was nice to get a feel for the size of this city and see something besides Old Town. It's gigantic and so packed. Around 13 million people are here. Our guide had mentioned it's 4.5 million more than NYC, but they have much more room here (2,000 sq miles vs 305) so it's a little hard to compare. I hope that the war torn tragedies of its neighbouring countries will not endanger Turkey (and that those countries will also soon be free of their horrors). Turkey’s flag symbolise how this region should be, with the crescent moon and star which represent freedom and peace.
