... Riga Royal Hotel to have the bell lady sweep our luggage up and after checking in she escorted us to our room. When we offered her a tipped to vehemently refused. Tipping is not the norm is Japan, in fact many in the service industry are trained to refuse tips. Our room was on the 21st floor and caught us by surprise when we entered as it had a huge window with views of the Hiroshima Castle, vibrant yellow, green and red trees ...

... or train station, only 1-2 dinning places in town, 1 tiny grocery, a factory town basically. There's a gigantic factory at the coast. With car, these are not problems. Staying in another person's home/house is exciting in itself. Home away from home!
