Kvilda, Plzeňský Kraj, Czech Republic gabifilovaComing from the cabin, we stoped here for a while to try some local specialities and take the train to come back to Miroslav house in Zichovec. Amazingly, there were several chickens and cocks looking for food in the railways. And even more amazingly, they seemed to know the train schedule, because five minutes before it came, they started to get out of the way!!!
Zbytiny, Czech Republic beagui... and even from the military area in front of the cabin. We even visited a quarry, our obliged stop being three geologists alone in the forests (this is what we usually do to have fun). We ate something, wash the dishes, cut some wood, packed, and sadly left the cabin to come back. Only later (in Vienna) we would discover that two ticks had biten us, and were actually with us for the next week (it was like a very cheap Interrail for them)...
Koryto, Czech Republic beaguiThe hometown of Miroslav. We were given the warmest of welcomes in his house, and his family was extremely nice to us. We slept two nights there, one before and one after our stay in the cabin; and we enjoyed the company of Mira's mother, father and niece (who by the way, plays the accordion virtuously).
Zichovec, Czech Republic beaguiPísek, city of the sand...we found it in our way to Mira's place, and we took the two pics you can see from the oldest Czech Bridge, which was almost completely covered by the floodings in 2002. It is really beautiful, and it is one of our best pictures (Bea took it) to date, what in the other hand it's not so difficult...
Písek, Czech Republic beagui... one of the international doctors to ask if s/he knew what a Videofluoroscopy was!). As much as we liked the first place, we immediately found a better place with a balcony, right on the river, for less money...and they brought breakfast to the room in the morning! We grabbed our stuff and said goodbye to the dog. After settling into the new room, we set out to explore the town before heading up to the castle. The town center isn't very big, but it's lined with Baroque and ...
Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic the_stamms... sun took control. We checked out the moat again...no bears. With the help of a cute little map we self-guided our way around all day and had a picnic lunch in a secluded part of the castle gardens. We twice more checked out the moat and still there were no bears. By this stage we had pretty much started to doubt the existence of the famous bears, which we started thinking might little more than a cunning ruse to get tourists in. That night however JP convinced ...
Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic jpandshazWell, since I am writing this, I am obviously still alive, which means I survived my 30th! On Thursday night a group from the hostel decided I should be celebrating at midnight when it turned to June 2, so we went out to Horor bar. It's in a basement cave, and is decorated with skeletons and gravestones! Everyone in the bar sang happy birthday at 12, even though most of them had no idea who they were singing to. After one of the ...
Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic skyeWhere to begin with Cesky Krumlov?? I wanted to spend a few days here, I needed to take a break and relax and quit moving around for a little while and someone told me this was the place to do, and the hostel I was in was the hostel to relax in. 25 beds, a cozy living room, a kitchen. it was the best hostel. so cozy, like being in a home basically. and everyone just chilled out. I ended up staying 10 nights, i wasnt the only one, a couple kiwis and an ...
