Parkhotel St.Leonhard Überlingen

... Velo auf die Meiersalp gefahren und habe dort gecampt. Die Nacht war Sternenklar und die Temperaturen auch noch relativ hoch (ca. 5 Grad Celsius). Es wird deshalb bestimmt nicht meine letzte Testfahrt gewesen sein.

... quick sites and then jumped back to Switzerland, crossed through Austria for an hour or so, and bam, were back in Germany, hehe....

Now I'm at Sebastian's brother's house, where we will go to sleep soon and visit München tomorrow...

... weren't too interested so they took Lincoln (who couldn't go with us) and we went to have a look. It was a rewarding visit. It is amazing to think how long ago some of those books and transcripts were written, and how well cared for they must be to remain in excellent condition. The library itself is breathtaking, with leather bound books lining the shelves, large windows (no doubt filtered), elaborate woodwork and staircases, and a muraled ceiling ...

... are works of art protruding from the towers, and in front of the cathedral is a beautiful bench with fun creatures wrapping themselves around it.

When we were almost out of time on the meter we made our way back to the car and continued east through Switzerland.

Just a day trip to see this old city. Lots of brightly painted buildings with ornate oriel windows. Most of the windows were carved with scenes or fancy designs, sometimes painted, sometimes both. Lots of fountains and statues. Found a chocolate shop and pigged out.

... the company of another local mayor, a regional government official, and the priest of Böttingen. Staying with the mayor of two different cities makes for some interesting situations sometimes. Last weekend I met an Irish guy who came here for a soccer game six years ago and decided he liked it better here and thus never left. Yesterday I met an American who came here twenty years ago on what seemed like a whim, decided he liked it better here, and never left. Hmmm.

... his irish licence had been forged (well it did have a dodgy photo that the irish licencing department glued onto it!). Johnno went down to help them out by bringing them their passport...but that wasn't good enuf...so Eric and Matt had to take yet another car to pick all the other people and cars up!
