      Sunday was a long, hot cycle from Bad Zurzach along the Rhine and through various towns and villages. The route took us very close to a big nuclear plant with the one cooling tower belching steam, always an intimidating sight!       ... I was the only one in his German taught class. (I had run into him earlier in the day and he had tried explaining some of the equipement to me in German before realizing I only spoke English - which he didn't) Luckily we were able to find common ground on some of his broken French to communicate in.       ... and we walked up and down the cobblestone streets, climbed 259 stairs to the top of an old bell tower (and back down again) where the views were amazing, ate some of the local sweet treats and then finished the afternoon with wine and appetizers on the Aare river.

      ... my painting tradition and paint the room first before moving in. Tabita, my “landlord” is an energetic and easy going 50+ with whom I will be sharing the bathroom and kitchen with. I am looking forward to having my own 4 walls again and settling in for a bit more than just a temporary situation. It is a new start again alright! Now I hope that the job situation will work out soon too so that I can pay my rent...

      We had planned a trip to Lucerne, a city famous for its surrounding scenery and covered bridges that span the Ruess River. I was there in high school and remember a lot of shops devoted almost exclusively to cow bells, hand carved clocks, Swiss army knives, chocolates and beer steins, but I guess these touristy items were not selling well enough because those shops are now gone.
