    ... Indonesia, taking their 3 young kids camping for the first time. The husband told us he is working in Switzerland for 2 year, in some professional capacity I assume. As well as roomy and with great views, the campsite was quiet, except for some odd bird noises coming from the river during the night. The Rhine has many swans and we have often seen them nesting on the banks but I think the sounds were from some funny ...

Much to his surprise they invited him to stay again next time he was in the area (it must have been the lasagne!).     ... that (and actually Thomas googled it during dinner and read the definition aloud, I believe). It was an interesting, fun, fascinating evening and we didn't want it to end (that's why we went for an after dinner drink at a local pub, and I stayed out later than I have in years!). Finally, I said I had to go to sleep, and ended the party. Thomas told me if I hadn't said that, we probably would have been out all night!!!

    ... my painting tradition and paint the room first before moving in. Tabita, my “landlord” is an energetic and easy going 50+ with whom I will be sharing the bathroom and kitchen with. I am looking forward to having my own 4 walls again and settling in for a bit more than just a temporary situation. It is a new start again alright! Now I hope that the job situation will work out soon too so that I can pay my rent...

    We had planned a trip to Lucerne, a city famous for its surrounding scenery and covered bridges that span the Ruess River. I was there in high school and remember a lot of shops devoted almost exclusively to cow bells, hand carved clocks, Swiss army knives, chocolates and beer steins, but I guess these touristy items were not selling well enough because those shops are now gone. They have been replaced by stores of global ubiquity selling universally available items ...
