We got up and got going much earlier this morning and left Diana's apartment by about 8.30am. We drove for a couple of hours to the Hasliberg alpine area, where we took a gondola up through the clouds to the top station, Käserstatt which is 1840m high. Even though it was raining we hired trotti scooters (big scooters) and Brook & Diana scooted down the mountain, while I ended up walking mine down, ...

... Factory. The line up was out the door once I got there. There was an hour wait on tickets being bought. Fortunately for me, being a single guest, I was able to be placed in the next English tour.
It was a very interesting, well put together and animated walk through of the history of chocolate, the company and the factory. The tour was finished with a demonstration of how some of their most popular chocolates are made. But at the very end, ...

We eventually got them, and Tom thought they were extremely similar to normal hot chips. After the snack, we were onto the brewery ...

We found a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant (mostly Italian) where you create your own pasta dish - from the type of pasta to the sauce to the various toppings. Gretchen did that. I opted for their Ravioli Gorgonzola with walnuts! Yum!

We split a bottle of Spanish wine and relaxed for a bit before coasting down the hill to our hostel - and showers and sleep - and me patching 3 of our holey tubes and fixing the leak in my front tire.

... a lovely BirthDay with the perfect mix of time to myself and being with friends. Since my birthday is the same as the national independence day, I had a party without having to do anything since my friends here have the tradition of having some friends over anyway on that day. It ended up being beautiful day (mind you: the news said that this July was the worst July since the past 20 years!) and I spent a good amount of time ...
