I arrived in Vienna just over two days ago and the first word that comes to mind is EXPENSIVE! Think old world riche and nouveau riche mixed together... Well, on my first night here I went on a bus tour of the city at night and had an opportunity to go on Vienna's famous Ferris Wheel. We then went to a traditional Wine Tavern. Now wine taverns can only sell one type of wine (typically their own brew), if they sell more than one type then they require a restaurant /liquor license. In this part...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria hikinggirlVienna Pastries & More.... Yesterday I ventured out into the Vienna's sea of neo-gothic, baroque, classic renaissance world of architecture....hmmm I ask myself why no Art Deco?! :-) The architecture is truly amazing here and profoundly inspiring. However, Vienna is so much more than just it's buildings...apparently it is also home to an interesting tableware collection (or so we were told by our quirky tour guide)....hmmmm tableware, I can't exactly say I came to Vienna to see tableware....

... want to read the books you go to the library." Okay, fine, but if I “want to read the books?” They are the assigned reading for your class! I have to read them, and I’m sorry, 1 book in the library for 11 people, I don’t think so!! Besides, I've already paid for them. Grrr…….

Anyway, we are hoping the problem gets fixed soon.

I haven’t had Research Methods yet, we don’t start that class ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria hachbachLocation:Vienna Hotel:Worst ever recorded AKA HOTEL CARINAWe nick-named it the hotel schnitzel 'cos the whole place smells of schnitzel. 20 minutes away from the center. Not IN the center! Oh and forget about being stuck in the elevator because the emergency phone's wires HAVE BEEN ...

On the word light the choir sings and the orchestra plays a wonderfully prepared G Major chord, and the music takes off. I truly rejoiced in God's creation. The next day I slept in before heading out to look at endings rather than the beginning. My first stop was the Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery). Why it is called the Central Cemetery, I don't know; it is far ...
Vienna, Austria harrellrl... and other allies, went to Paris sacked the city and took their statue back to Berlin. They renamed the women on the statue from the goddess of peace to the goddess of victory. Now her name is Victoria. So that the French would never forget that they stole back their statue they named the square Pariser platz. Another funny thing is that Victoria is looking in the direction of the French embassy. Then we went to the holocaust memorial which is right near ...
Vienna, Austria celincline... Was raining when we left, when we came out of the subway it was windy, raining and hailing. Map got wet, glasses got wet. Unfortunately we went the wrong way in the rain and had to run all the way round town in the rain to find the bus, which we did with a minute to spare. The tour was an hour and a half that had a 30 minute break in the middle where we sat at a company souvenir shop, so it wasn't a very long ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria gregd999... small streets of the city. My final destination was Griechenbeisl, where Beethoven and others are said to have been regular guests. To get there, I took a long route, mainly going by some other churches, and the old Mozart house, but nothing quite impressive. Then there was the meal. The restaurant was good, but that would require another full entry, well, it wasn't that good, let us say half an entry, here. That night I had a reservation for ...
Vienna, Austria roberto.macias... loft their lungs skyward with the kinds of heaving coughs you only get from German cigarettes. Mitte is, or rather was, I´m sure, once a lovely suburb, judging from the occasional pre-war building relic you see. However, since much of Berlin was bombed off the face of the earth, these relics are few and far between in Mitte and are instead replaced with grim, Communist-era housing tenements which have themselves seen better days. About 20 seconds after the Berlin ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria elsewhere... day I played a little better and more musical than the day prior to it. I didn't get lost after Monday's fiasco, thanks in part to Stefanie's navigational skills, which was definitely good. My playing improvements were definitely not due to me practicing, since I really didn't have time. I really think that Steiner's focus on breath support and air control has enabled my sound to improve ten-fold. He even worked on an ...
