Getting some miles under our belts on the excellent European roads. Split from Pete and Tim at lunchtime in Austria and they went off to cross the Tyrol mountains as Baz and myself plodded on along the motorway towards Germany with the trailer in tow.
The heavens opened and it rained and rained!
We splashed our way across Austria to Salzburg on the German border where we ...
... into one of the tents, can't remember what it was called, met 2 nice Germans called Matthias and Simone, and stayed with them at their table for the whole day! Debbie, Rob and Jade had to leave at 4.30pm to catch the bus back to London, so I stayed with Matthias and Simone until they had to leave at 6.30pm. Kynan and I stayed for another hour or so before leaving, and I lost him in the crowds when we were heading to the area where the bus ...

He showed her his driver's license and then we looked at his family pics on his iPhone! What a small world! We all made it out of Munich and survived Oktoberfest, but warning to anyone going....beware! This festival is something else, especially for us 33 year olds!! RANDOM Costs of Oktoberfest are not for the faint of heart: Mass of Beer ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany laytonandjana... Welt! If steam powered vehicles are more your speed, then check out the Deutsches Museum for a look at everything ever invented and how They have huge jet engines on display that have been cross-sectioned and you can see how all the parts work. Awesome!! You may be wondering if we have seen Indiana Jones again lately. Well have no fear because we went to a showing of Indiana Jones und das Konigreich des Kristallschadels. The German dubbing was pretty harsh, but ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany rachandshan... art' and it was called something like 'Degenerate Art Exhibition.' Everyone was supposed to go to the real art museum and then maybe to the degenerate one to see how bad it was compared to the first. 400,000 people visited the House of Art, and 4 million people visited the degenerate art exhibit. After the war, when deciding whether to destroy the place or not, they ultimately decided to ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany lmk... been killed in the putsch on November 9th, 1923. This site was always closely guarded by SS guards and was a popular site for Nazi rallies. From Konigsplatz, we walked to the Fuhrerbau (Hitler's office building.) The building is now a conservatory of music but you can still see signs of a Nazi sculpture above the front door. We walked along Odeonsplatz to the 'spiritual' center of Nazism. Here we found the Feldherrnhalle, a ...
Munich, Germany friskyc... moments for the wedding on video and had the full ceremony documented for us. Not to mention all the pictures he took. He made a book for us and it was very professional. He makes our professional photographer look bad. I am including in this blog just a few pictures that I absolutely loved. He got one with me and my "Crew" heading for the rehearsal. I definitely look in charge and on the cell phone which if you know the story behind our wedding flowers ...
Munich, Germany romero... but she ended up not being able to take me, so I spent my new years watching a Grease marathon. When it got to 11.30 I went for a bit of a walk to see the fireworks down the street. They were incredible! I tried to take some photos but because my flash takes so long, by the time I took the photo it was just of a black sky. THe fireworks display lasted for over an hour. I walked back to Cori´s and saw the rest from her balcony. Cori had an amazing view of all ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany sarah.... night - olympic-quality snoring, lights, and open outside doors are not helpful when trying to sleep in a shared area - and some bread from Sonja in Stuttgart, we trammed downtown to the excellent municipally funded and operated Stadtmuseum. The only way I can explain the size, quality, breadth, and content of the museum is gargantuan. The temporary exhibit on the social and cultural aspects of soccer, or fußball (the ß represents a double-s, "ss"), was phenomenal. Covering ...
Munich, Germany jmdevine... my self carve out giant S shaped routes through the countryside. In one case I almost completed a circle with a diameter of 3 Km. In Murnau I stopped in a map shop and studied the 1:50,000 scale maps but they were all quite small. I looked at the one for the area I had cycled through. I would need 3-4 maps to cover the area I traveled in one day. At 6 Euro each it would work out too expensive to buy ...
