We have just come back from a lovely trip up to Lake Konigssee, and a boat trip down the lake to St Bartholoma. The lake is nestled between the mountains, and is 602m above sea level with an average depth of 150m. It is the cleanest lake in Germany, with the water being pure enough to be classified ...

... of Salzburg . Truth be told it's a great idea if someone checks the opening times of such places. We got off the bus at the wrong stop, walked the 1km up the Alps to the gorge to discover it was in fact closed. To make the most out of our journey we then proceeded to climb down to the gorge off the side of ...

... s another TV camera! Good grief! You can't help but feel for these desperate people but this does feel like media overkill. We pick up our tickets and have an hour or so to kill, so it's coffee time. Salzburg was always going to be just a bed for the night, so exploring is not on the cards. It is a beautiful morning so the cappuccino tasted that much better. In fact it was so good I had another. Our change over station is 2 hours or so away. On board we ...

... for a bit, but it soon wore off.

Back on the road, we easily made it into Salzburg before 6:00. Our apartment is on a "farm", sort of a suburban farm, as we're not that far away from apartment buildings. Clean and tidy with plenty of room, it would be a great place to spread out in for a night.

We had asked our hotel's owner about a restaurant recommendation. She informed us that not too many are open ...

... that has been renovated into a restaurant, bar and hotel. The owner was a hoot and he spoke 4 languages. German, French, English and Italian. Our fun waitress in Rothenburg spoke FIVE languages! Really made us feel like slackers!! The dinner was fabulous, very relaxing. They are in no hurry here! Back at the hotel now - we are ready to crash . . . it's been a long and fun day! Hope everything is going well at home. If anyone has any updates on Finn or the cats please let us ...
