This morning we did the Rick Steves walking tour of Colmar. It is such a charming place. There is a fantastic and huge market place with fresh meats, fish, cheeses, sweets, and other "produits de Alsace". We enjoyed it. Then we decided to take the car to a couple more nearby villages, Eguisheim and Turckheim. Eguisheim was recently voted one of "the most beautiful villages in France". It was certainly charming! We knew prices were very high in Switzerland and kmhad passed restaurants with $50 and $60 meals. We taught pizza would be a good idea. The restaurant was lovely and a 10 inch pizza was $25 francs! We ordered 3 pizzas for the ...
What an adventure it was just to get here, the starting point of our River cruise. We decided to come a day earlier just in the off chance that there might be travel problems, and boy did we have it. Our connecting flight from Frankfurt got the gate changed, then delayed, and the dreaded cancellation. Lufthansa proceeded to issue train tickets for us to get to Basel, which was a 3 hour train ride. The good thing is that the train station is connected to the airport. But ...
