Lāngtāng, Nepal nathalieroy... was lovely as it was mostly down hill and we kept to the road for the majority of it, passing a few yaks, local people, oh and the random person offering us hash to buy! It was quite amusing as it was all completely lost in translation- Jo thought he was asking if we wanted him to guide us, until a little later his wife ran down the mountain calling us, only to then offer us a small little parcel of hard resin! Many "Chiyna, Danyabad's" (no thankyou's) later we ...
Langtang National Park, Himalayan Region, Nepal sheilajortw... cloud. The first few days I was in Kathmandu I thought I had indegestion but I can only presume it was the pollution. However, Joe and I were looking forward to the city having been in the sticks for over a week.

The people of Kathmandu were very friendly. Overall, I've found the Nepalese people extremely welcoming, i understand they feel a bond with the British due to the Ghurkas who fight for our country. The Union ...
Kathmandu, Nepal gareth2009... in a half circle of
benches around the wood burning stove maing friends with some of the
lodge owners (I realized I was giving free English lessons pretty
quickly, but enjoyed the interactions), their kids (because of the
festival of Dasain there was no school and a lot of kids were hanging
out in the lodges) and other trekkers as we went (our favorites were a
pair of Aussie backpackers who I quickly bonded with over the various ...
Langtang National Park, Himalayan Region, Nepal agrossma... hotel Sir" Fists unclenched... We actually got a pretty sweet spot, right in Thamel Square, which is the main tourist section (In a place like Kathmandu, you WANT to be in the tourist section) and down a side alley so it is quiet.

We go check out the area and it is just total madness. Is it a 1 way street, is it even a streeet? is there parking allowed? who has the right of way between a rickshaw and a 125cc motorcycle ...

The woman here at the lodge wash all the sheets, towels and napkins by hand every day and lie them on the grass to dry and then fold them up. Sometimes there are as many as 80 guests staying a couple of days so you can imagine how much laundry there is. I will try and add some more pictures soon as I appreciate it must make my blog a bit more interesting.
The kids had another couple of days off at the end of last ...
Kathmandu, Nepal lizcapWe arrived to Lama hotel after joining to the main trekking root in and walked to have lunch and a wash in the river in Lama hotel. The water was freezing cold as accepted but that was refreshing. The warm soup after that came in the right place and give me power for the rest of the day.
Lama Hotel, Nepal yam_cinaWe took the Bus from Kathmandu to Syābru Bensi, a drive that take around ten hours of bumpy road that go through local villages and amazing scenery. About the scenery I can only tall in the few stops that we made or when my head was out of the window to vomit. (No worries I was OK in the end, but I'm not going to do it ever again).
After a cup of black tea and biscuit in the loge, we took off to look around the small town and see the local Stopa, a praying place for the Bodhaests.
