... Greg has found a pair of jeans to his liking and as he is criticing them he waves me over and says to me ''I wanta you to pick something' to which I respond that no there is nothing I would like I am fine thank you, ''please please I want you to have somethinga'' he gestures with his free hand around the store. I turn to him, Greg, we're in a mens store! The Laughter commences and hardly lets up all weekend!

This is the birth of a whirlwind of ...
Casalmaggiore, Lombardy, Italy benitalutz... followed us the whole way back. It was like God was saying "you really want to keep complaining NOW?" We went back to her house as she made tea and opened a box of sweets (they never stop appearing) then dropped me off at the house. I told her "oggi...FANTASTICO" (today...FANTASTIC) and she gave me the double kiss on the cheek before she left, something she had never done before. It was a great weekend, exactly what I imagine when I think Italy.
Cremona, Lombardy, Italy alliemarie... All tasty and the parmiggano was the best we had ever tried. We finished up and headed for the station, we were done doing what we came here for. We stopped off in Modena on the way home. Modena is the home of Maseratti, Ferarri and Ducatti motorbikes and is also the place that most of the balsamic vinegar in the world comes from. They had a church, it was fancy. They didn't let us take any pictures.
Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy brandonandryanToday we ventured into Parma we had better luck parking today. It had to be the nicest parking garage ever. Each spot had either a green/unoccupied or red/occupied light right above it and there was music playing over the loud speaker very cool! We had a lunch of tomato and basil pasta with a dessert plate of the meats of Parma. We walked around Parma saw a ...
Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy dajatolWe left Indy on time and made our connection in Detroit with just a few minutes to spare. Once on the plane in Detroit we were ready to taxi down the runway when an announcement came on looking for a doctor on board. We then got word that we were going back to the terminal where paramedics would be boarding the plane. Once we were at the terminal the ...
Reggiolo, Emilia-Romagna, Italy dajatolFor a nice little day trip, Zoe and I decided to go to one of the main cities in Emilia-Romagna (the province where our father hails from): Parma.

The city is reknowned for parmesan cheese and Parma ham, or as we call it, prosciutto.

If you like quaint churches and little shops, this place is great to visit!
Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy papayaprincess... and all seven of our group succumbed to the choice. For our first course I had an incredible roasted artichoke dish, and Rob had platefuls of a variety of four or five types of prosciutto. (We don't follow Kashruth in Europe, but while Rob is more than happy to escape promises he made when we first got engaged, I can't bring myself to ever try pork.) The risotto was in a different realm than any I'd ever had anywhere (save perhaps at Angela's.) There was ...
Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy travelingmom... All dishes are specialties of the area. Then we ate it (served with wine as everything we eat is). After this we went on an excursion and visited a castle on a hill, a prosciutto factory and a winery. All of this was in the hills near Parma which is the area they need to make prosciutto di Parma. The prosciutto factory was very interesting and of course we had a tasting (with wine). The winery was fairly ...
Parma,, Italy unamica... it is way way too late. LIke when the train has already started moving. She also does the frantic demand and accusation. "Where is my passport? I just had it, I remember putting it in my bag! Who the hell stole my passport??? Oh, here it is." Think Bulldog from Fraiser. I, knock on wood, have lost and forgotten nothing, but I did just notice today that the maid in France stole my new face lotion AND 5 razors!!! I did not loose it. It was stolen. I am sure.
Parma, Italy newearth11June 10, 2002

Back on the bus! This time to Italy!! We went to Pisa (and had pizza for lunch!) We saw the tower, of course, and the church. Got to shop in the souvenir shops and sit for awhile in the sun. Very peaceful day. I can tell I'm getting tired, because the travel journal entries are shorter and shorter!

We were in ...
