Historical Traveler Reviews of Park Plaza Normandie San Juan
No Way Jose!

Take your money & run! The service at this place was completely pathetic!! Staff was rude & accomdations were terrible! It looks awesome on the outside, but inside the rooms are old & smell very damp.
My phones didn't even work in my room! And the food was overpriced & horrible! I recommend the Embassy Suites instead!
What can I not say?

Whilst I stayed at the Normandie Hotel I found the location was fantastic but the hospitality and services was slack and unrealiable. We had expericenced a 10 hr flight and when we arrived our room had no electricity and we were forced to wait around for 2 hours. We couldn't wait to get out of there.
Excellent!

We stayed at the Normandie Hotel during the Cubs games against Montreal in San Juan between Sept. 9 and Sept. 12, 2003. Our room was nice and clean with a great view of the ocean. The hotel's location was central to everything and only a short cab ride away from the major sites (i.e.
Old San Juan, the ball park, Isla Verde). The pool was perfect for the few people who enjoyed the splendid sun and heat. The small beach just outside the hotel compound gave a taste of the Puerto Rican beaches along that coast. The sandwich shop across the street from the hotel had excellent sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Finally, the hotel's employees were very accomodating and helpful. All in all, a very good experience!
Good Location

Eventhough the hotel was easy to locate and at a pretty visable location, I know now to stay elsewhere. The staff was pretty friendly, yet un-informed of where anything is. We also had lost power one night and upon checking out the following day I mentioned it to the girl at the desk and all she did was look at me DUMB FONDED. Perhaps an "I'm Sorry for the inconvience" she just stared at me I know she understood me because I even spoke Spanish to her. So I just walked away.
Omni needs work

Spent four days at the omni. While the location is decent (near old san juan, condado area), the hotel needs work. Dark and dreary, rooms need updating as well as carpet, lobby area etc.
Noisy Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
It was a long week at the Normandie. We picked June for our vacation.
Every single night it was a dance at the hotels top floor.Approx. 300 am the noise stop. Security did not care about the other guest in the hotel, so we put up with the noise every night. Because the same dance's, no parking was available for hotel guest. Which bring me to another subject, in order to park , the guest has to pay $10.00 daily.
The rooms were clean and house keeping was outstanding. The food and service at the hotels restaurant were also really good. We prepaid our stay through on line agency. A month later the Normandy charged our credit card once more, be aware of that.

There is very little good that can be said about this hotel. Bad food, apathetic staff, noisy, dirty and no beach. Need I say more. If this is the only place available in San Juan, stay home. You will be miserable here.
Worst Hospitality & Service Possible
from fakin_in_vegas
This hotel has the worst service and hospitality that I have ever experienced, a staff full of incompetent employees who take 3 hrs to bring towels, the wake up call comes a minimum of 30 minutes late or early, but never on time. The food is terrible and there are no amenities at all. The beach is non-existant. Spend a few extra dollars and stay at the Hilton--you won't regret it.
