    ... Poppy to Tracy the air hostess who had offered to "buy it". True to form, Julie sacrificed her team poppy to the daughter of the Vietnam Vet - a sacrifice in the true Spirit of the ANZACs.     I saw a squirrel! I saw a squirrel! I saw a squirrel! It was in a tree. Right outside our hostel. A freaking squirrel! Amazing. I've had three discoveries for the day.     ... It’s full of the department store Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Bloomingdales but also has some of the more economical ones including Sears. Regardless, it’s inter-season time and it is not unusual to find 40-60% off lots of stock. We got some good value school shoes for O’Regan and a couple of work shirts for McKay, one of them was reduced from $44 to $4.99 (plus tax).

    ... it was an oceanview. Carol got a blueberry slushy, made with real blueberries, and I ordered a gingerbread smoothie, which was also awesome.

    We walked more and checked out the pier shops. We then followed into the mini theme park they have on the Santa Monica Pier, took a ride on the roller coaster over the ocean. Pretty hectic that was. We only paid for one, but she let us go twice :)
