I already had these thoughts before leaving. But actually, is not the thought of missing a complete day that is weird, it is more the fact of it, plus the time zones. Because on Monday, I was in Montreal. I took the plane at 5pm, arrived five hours later in Vancouver, but at 7pm. Just there, my day expands of three hours (a 27 hour day), which would not have been that bad if I had stayed in Vancouver. But no, no, no, I had another flight to catch, an International Date Line to ...

A nice walk with great views of the bridge and opera house. After 7 hours of walking, we decided to buy a bottle of wine and have a drink in the room before dinner. ... I was placed at the back of the pack, failing to start my bike resulted in one on one tuition with an instructor. I soon got into it. Quad biking on the sand dunes was so much fun. We reached 65kmph and sped down 50ft banks. It was crazy. After this we did a walk in Port Stephens. This was around 14k (little to our knowledge on setting out). Unfortunately my driving and Josie's navigations had resulted in us parking at ...

... that my grandfather gave her and I feel like somehow it is a symbol of him travelling with me on this trip. That there are generations travelling with me, that somehow the shirt links us all through time and space. I am glad I got to spend so much time with my family at Christmas. I can be a bit of a home body-ironic that I am going on a great big adventure then, however, I like to think of myself as Bilbo Baggins. If you ...
