LONDON!!!

We got into London safely early this morning! The airport was super clean and seemed really new. We flew into Stansted which was about an hour away from our hotel in Kensington, London. It was crazy to hear all the British accents, gotta love that!! The cool thing I noticed in the airport was the Cadbury vending machines!! It was awesome!! If you think there is only Cadbury eggs, you got it all wrong!! They have all different flavors of chocolate and different types of cookies!!! I thought th...

YEAH for Big Bus Company!!

This morning we woke up at 7 to be out the door by 8:30. We got ready and headed down for breakfast, same deal as yesterday with the sandwiches!! hah!! Then we signed up for a day trip to go on tomorrow and we were out the door!! We had to be up so early because we had to walk to our tour location for the Changing of the Guards. We had to hike it there the whole way; Julie and I were sweating while trying to catch up to long legged Justine and Jackie! It took us about an hour to get there and...

Last Day in London:(

Today we got to sleep in a bit before we headed out to the city!! We just hit up the last few things we wanted to see in London!! Walking through Hyde Park was soo pretty with all the trees!! Everyone is out playing fútbol or frisbee, people on bikes, lots of people running, and even people just sitting enjoying a day in the park!! It was nice because you dont see that a lot in the US. Our first stop was definitely the guards at St. James' Palace!!! Yes, the guards you can take pictures with!...

First Visit to London

Dawn took us to a small train station about 15 minutes from her house to catch the commuter train to Brussels Midi. We were trying to catch the 7:17 train with all of about 2 minutes to spare! We ran into the station (Dawn with Benny in her arms, insisting she get us to the right place), no time to buy tickets so Dawn said to just chance it and go without them. Well, after the metro the day before, I was fine with that so we hugged her goodbye and ran to the platform. Once we got there, we re...

Classic London Weather

Day two in London. The weather was true to London's reputation - gray and cool but not quite cold. Our breakfast buffet was ok. There were eggs, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, pastries, cereals, fruit, toast and yogurt. I made the mistake of trying a croissant, but after days of French ones, this was a disappointment! Definitely a mass produced, frozen one. I decided to just stick with the bran flakes and hot chocolate! To start the day, we took the Tube to Little Venice for a 10:30 canal ...

Portobello Rd - the Holy Grail of Flea Markets!

Last day of vacation. First stop was Portobello Road Market! The holy grail of all flea markets/antique shops. The road went on for blocks and blocks and we didn't see all of it, much less all of the shops along the road. The first area we passed had produce/food vendors and we had a lemon and sugar crepe. I think the butter and sugar one is better. Darin and I searched for a cameo for his Mom. Saw plenty of them but since neither of us are big fans of cameos, we never could decide. We'll jus...

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat where have you been???

I went to London to see the Queen.....and she wasn't there. I guess it was expected. Mum and I arrived in London exhausted but thrilled. Lots to see, lots to do and we didn't get through it all but we gave it a good try. I truly enjoyed London though I regret spending so much of time in sights and attractions and not enough time wandering the streets. It is definitely something that I learned to do more of as I continued my travels. That being said - I still think that it is a fabulous city....

London, England

Hi everyone! I'm here in London at our hotel writing this email. We arrived on the 1st (in London time) at 7am. My flight was late and customs took forever so I actually got done with all that about 8:30. My friend was waiting for me outside of customs and we hopped on a train into the city. We then went on to our hotel which is really quite nice and it is going to spoil us for the next places we stay which are hostels and probably ******! :) We did the hop-on, hop-off bus the 1st day and saw...

Great Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
The reviews I read were good and that convinced me to stay there. I was not disappointed. I am sure there is a vocal minority who are disappointed (see some of the other comments), but my stay was pleasant and I am glad to recommend this to any who stay. Location is conveinient, staff was freindly. My room was clean and everything worked, bed was comfortable. Price was affordable and I will definitely stay again.

Pleasant Stay!

I had a great stay, the service was excellent and I had no problems at all during my week in London. The hotel is definetly above average and it surprises me that other people have given it such bad reviews. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves quite a bit and the hotel is easily accessible to all that London has to offer. We enjoyed the hospitality at the Park and we will definetly be back for another stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an affordable, clean, and comfortable stay in lovely London.

A Great time made better

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend as part of our Europe trip. We found the staff to be polite and very helpful. The room size was good compared to other hotels in London. We will certainly be recommending this hotel to our friends. Keep up the good work and thanks.

Wonderful Stay

A Wonderful Hotel with nice amenities, clean rooms, and friendly staff.

I will certainly visit the Park International Hotel again on my next visit to London. We stayed in August and the Park actually had air conditioning in the room so we were very comfortable. The Tube stop is really close and the hotel is in a great area. We shopped at Harrods and walked in Hyde Park on the same day.

Very disappointing

from Tamarishka
I booked this hotel for my parents in May after reading above average reviews on this site. Unfortunately the reviews must have been written by the staff at the hotel because the service and condition of the hotel was far from adequate. The 'superior' room that I booked, although at a discounted price, was very ordinary. The room was far from superior, it was actually a family room, which wasn't required.

The bathroom was fifthy, the floor sloped and the room overall was severely in need of repair. To top off the stay breakfast was served on paper plates! Just goes to show that you can't always trust reviews.

Never Again

from A TripAdvisor Member
The staff overall was not very helpful, most did not even know they had a manager. I upgraded my room because the first was not as advertised.

In the first room I kept my insulin in the refrigeratorand everything was fine.In the upgraded room it froze in the fridge set at the same temperature. They sent a repair person up who informed my wife and I that it was running colder than normal. After complaining and spending 100 pounds, the manager(yes he exists) left a condensending letterand a bottle of wine(no sugar there) on how diabeticshould travel. We left immediately and went next door to a 23 story holiday Inn that was outstanding.Since being back in the states, we have received a threatening letter from this manager saying if wecomplained he would sue us and accused us of blackmail because we asked for a refund of the 100 pounds for the insulin. The internet add for thisproperty contain untruths...there are no breakfasts cooked to order and the rooms are small and notclean according to American standards. There is much more.....In my opinion, which Americans are entitled to despite the hotels belief,Ihighly suggestyou avoid this hotel and go about 200 yards to the Holiday Inn and enjoy a pleasant stay with courtesy and a more pleasant and honest staff andcleaner rooms with great views...

Very nice experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was quite surprised by the other reviews of this hotel. I found it to be above average in amenities, (for London). It was less than two blocks from the tube in a moderately nice part of town, not far from Hyde Park. The people were very cordial and helpful, and it was clean. I stayed there for 7 nights, and the bed was fine. I plan on staying there again next year.

Stay away!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms are very small and in need of refurbishment - dirty and few amenities. The refrigerator was not working - we told the front staff that it needed to be fixed. They said they would look at it, but they never did. We gave up trying to get them to fix it after three times, and put our cold items outside the window. The staff was not very helpful, except for one of the porters. When we were there in Sept. , they were remodeling the lobby and hotel bathroom and made no apologies for the incovenience. We asked the front staff where we could hear live music, and they didn't have a clue. The staff is not helpful and I would never stay there again!

Horrible

from A TripAdvisor Member
My experience of the Park International Hotel is not good. I was going to London and booked two nights at the hotel on the internet because the the description was good and the location was perfect. When I arrived the reception looked like they had never finished building it, there were boxes and trash everywhere behind the reception, I didn't think too much about it and thought that they were probably renovating the reception and had forgotten to put up a sign apologising for the inconvenience. When I opened the door to the room, a heavy cloud of smoke came towards me and this was a room on the none smoking floor. When I got into the room I saw that the carpet was ruined, there were huge dark stains on the carpet everywhere, like someone had thrown up all over the floor and mixed with that were traces of white cleaning detergent so it seems like they hadn't even bothered to clean up the cleaning detergent. I then went to the reception and asked to another room. The second room looked fine and I was happy about it, until I went into the bathroom. I saw there what I found even more repulsive. The toilet seat had obviously not been cleaned, since there were blood stains on it. I went to the reception and told them that I could by no means stay in their unhygienic hotel and that I was leaving. They then told me that I would never the less have to pay for the room that I had booked,. I was not very happy about this since I only stayed there for ten minutes max. and the state of the hotel was so bad that I felt that I could not stay there any longer. I called the manager they day after and he was very impolite and rude and just said that he was charging me for a hotel room. I hope future tourists will choose other hotels instead of this one since there are plenty of very good hotels in London, Park International Hotel is just not one of them.
