Really quickly I'm going to try and update this. We arrived safely last night in Vienna. We flew, and were the only study tour to do so, so we're kind of lucky. We have 2 classes which travel, and so this is the first of my traveling class tours. The class is called Great Ideas in Western Music. It's a really interesting class. It's nice to stay in a hotel too! Our hotel is really really nice, and we found out this morning that breakfast is wonderful!! They had a huge spread, rivaling Maga's ...
Eisenstadt, Burgenland, Austria alina-bethVienna was a fabulous time, and I wish I had the time to blog extensively about it. Unfortunately, I'm so incredibly busy this week with midterms and doing the qualitative research component of my thesis, so this is going to be short and sweet compared to what it could be. FRIDAY Friday we met as a class to go on a tour of Vienna. Dr Backes, our professor, gave the tour. The problem with the tour was that it was outdoors and very, very cold. So, I didn't get as much out of this if we wouldn't...

... t know what it was about Vienna but the whole place (at least the places I went) seemed to have a really cool vibe. Also I have become very fond of schnitzel.
And since this was Baltimore Matt’s actual birthday, the real party was on our last night. Tyler and I weren’t planning on staying out too late because we both were going to be on the trains the next day, but of course this ended up being the latest night ...
... to Viennese amusement park. I have to say, I loved every moment of it, and definitely recommend it: quite a bit for the rides, but even more so for people watching. I confess i did not do the ride i came there to do: the old wheel from 19th century. It was long, expensive, and seemed boring. Instead, I did one rollercoaster (one of many, I did only the one near the entrance - and it was ok. i would recommend trying others) and a ride of seeing round from above. What it really is, is ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria pitabread... street continues to smell fresh -- of long conversations over coffee...and dough being rolled by floured hands. Of pages turned in old books and gazes paid to leather bags. Of lilac bouquets and candles being lit. Of yesterday's discoveries and tomorrow's dreams. Of hope and excitement. I close my eyes and try to breathe it all in -- try to feel infinite.
Vienna, Vienna, Austria spassvogel... is a visual delight. We had an idea this city would be breathtaking however, it is entirely different seeing it in person. This is quite a large city so a big change from our Cracow experience. It is almost like leaving a quaint city to a major metropolis. Vienna is know as a major art hub in Europe and it is proving to be so. We have visited several art museums and sights so far - the Belevedere Palace, Kunsthistorisches Museum (per ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria travelbirdsi left prosser at cesky budjevocie (home of the real budwieser/budvar beer) ticket hall for 2 minutes while i left to get my ticket to austria, i went back to find him and he had dissapeared. i was slightly concerned as hes pretty rubbish wen it comes to common sense (great at sellin paper and **** facts mind) but not concerned enough to waste 10euros and miss my train. so i arrived in vienna, austria around midday ish ...
Vienna, Austria jordanblair100... going to switch into English at some point and the tour is entirely conducted in German. The council chamber and the grand ball room (which can accommodate 2000 guests) are less decorated with statues and friezes depicting the various good works of the good burghers of Vienna. After a picnic lunch in one of the many courtyards of the Rathaus I wonder through the part of Vienna containing many of the Palias of the wealthy families from the Austrian court. It's about 2 o ...
Vienna, Austria markprendergast... t believe my eyes with the prices . . . and I got half a kilo of Eerdberries [Strawberries] for sixty nine cents and I'd noted at the shop down the road that they were € 2,99 per 500grams [I went back for more later but they were sold out - I wasn't the only one t realise the value there and diabetics can eat as many strawberries as they like] . . . then the walk down the aisles was similarly surprising with prices in most cases way below prices back home ...
Vienna, Austria craig560... trips, you already saved money. As the metro goes pretty much everywhere (even Schonbrunn Palace, which is a bit out of the city), it's the best option to make the most of your sightseeing time. As far as nightlife goes, we didn't really party, as I was feeling under the weather... Our hostel was clean and a good price as far as the city costs (it was 16 Euro for a 4-6 bed dorm), but Sam and I didn't particularly warm to it as it ...
