    After successfully collecting the car from the parking station we headed for Melk Abbey in Monday morning peak traffic. The detour was really worth it. The Hapsburgs had a hand it making this an opulent yet contemplative place. The library is something to behold. We had an idyllic drive along the north bank of the Danube, called the Wachau, for lunch at a lovely riverside restaurant at Spitz – plenty of cruise boats.
