      ... out of the dead level of the surrounding green plains, visible from a great distance down the bends of the river, and with just exactly room on the top of its head for its steepled and turreted and roof-clustered cap of architecture, which same is tightly jammed and compacted within the perfectly round hoop of the ancient village wall.

      ... I saw an interesting electronic road sign today. It had 70 at the top and a green wave line underneath. These are known as the green wave signs and mean that if you travel at the speed advised, under the current traffic conditions you will only get green lights. Saw quite a few of the garden plots along the road. People pay between €10,000 to €15,000 for the plot with a shed and they must use a third of the land for vegetables but can't stay ...
