... by the river.. We make it to another Gasthof where the umbrellas are being set up. We stop for a phenomenal spread of sliced meats and cheese and watch the boats go back and forth. We took a small detour / excursion off the river trail to Eferding... Not sure why :) haha. It was scorching hot and we got lightly roasted but it was beautiful riding through Austrian farmland.. Past paddocks of horses and a lot of cabbage crops. There were also many worker groups ...

... villages and admired locals going about their simple lives. Schlogen is to the people of Linz what Rotto is to Perth-ites. It is so picturesque.. So green, so tranquil. We camped beside a little lake which sounded like it was home to Austria's entire duck population! Em ...

... downwards and proved to be very irritating as the day wore on. It was very beautiful following the river. There's lots and lots of trees (pines of some sort) and steepish slopes. The bike path is mostly very flat with just a few smallish inclines. We had 2 small ferry (fahre) crossings for around 1 or 2 euro each. Good income for the local people. Along the way we had a few stops for drinks, ...

... banks, fishing sun baking, yes you read it, sun baking! Some were having a Bbq, but just over an open fire with a small grill. Lots were out riding their bikes. I also rode into the old town and had fun exploring on my own. I felt very safe riding around. Then Geoff and I went for an evening stroll before the boat sailed just before 7 pm. We saw priests enter a church they were about to give mass, I took a peak inside the door and it was a lovely church. We are now on our way to ...
