    ... not often available and a veal schnitzel would cost around €50. Free time in the afternoon. Would have liked to have done the hop on, hop off S of M bus ride or the train up to the castle, or the Mozart Museum, but needed to go back to the Christmas shop we passed in the morning to get a nativity. Most of them were German made and when I asked if they had any Austrian scenes, the lady asked why I didn't like the German ones. Told her I had one from Germany ...

    Ahh the tranquil Danube valley, the sun burns my scalp while the alpines provide shady refuge, a wonderful feeling of serenity and freedom.     ... downwards and proved to be very irritating as the day wore on. It was very beautiful following the river. There's lots and lots of trees (pines of some sort) and steepish slopes. The bike path is mostly very flat with just a few smallish inclines. We had 2 small ferry (fahre) crossings for around 1 or 2 euro each. Good income for the local people.
