... that we had to start at the top on the far side to slide the fastest. The water was quite cold and I think everybody was a bit relieved that we could stay mostly dry sliding down. Margo, the bull mastiff, also enjoyed playing in the waterfall, running down after us as we slid down on the turtle. We ate lunch here and spent the better part of the morning and afternoon here, then headed back to the campsite. On the way back, ...

The road heads down into the gorge along Little Lost Cove Creek, fording the creek about a half-mile from the start and ends at a primitive campsite. ...

Another beautiful morning in the campground... and a walking tour of downtown Asheville. Then the drive across the mountains into central North Carolina on I-40 -- crossed the Eastern Continental Divide and then a six-mile very steep downhill stretch. At Hickory I turned south and drove through the small town of Maiden to ...

    Home Again, Home Again

We traveled on the 27th to Meridian, MS, and on the 28th to Carrollton, GA. Both were pretty uneventful overnight stops. On Sunday morning we left the John Tanner State Park in Carrollton, GA, to head for home. There was no good way to avoid going through downtown Atlanta, and we correctly surmised that traffic would be lightest on Sunday morning than at any other time. Miss Garmin steered us ...
