We hung out in her hostel room with three of her hostel mates including a friendly Scotsman named Alex. He and I seemed to be on the same page with a rather ...

... to "old beer". In Dusseldorf there are nine places which brew and serve their own altbier, and the way they serve it is both interesting and dangerous. The bar tenders/waiters walk around with these specially designed carriers full of beer glasses. They will continuously give you a new beer and make a slash mark on your coaster to count how many beers you have had.
