Hello!
So for two weekends in a row, my plans have not worked out exactly as I had hoped. That has only made me more determined to come back again and see Europe! It is unfortunate that I won't go over the border in my 2 months here. I will only set foot in another country on my way home when I stop over in Vienna and Singapore on ...
... It'll cost a fair bit, but at least then I will have everything at home (I can't pay the excess baggage fee at the airport! It's absolutely insane!!!)
And so I will leave u for another day. If I have time to tell u about my other adventures before I come home I shall. If not I will give u an outline of what my week holds:
Tonight I am going to see the opera 'Don Giovanni'
Tomorrow we have our last official classes at uni and we have bought a bracelet to ...
... at buying some warm boots. And I might be able to fulfil Michael's wish of building a snowman after all.
A couple of my classmates are going to Neuschwanstein this weekend (It'll look amazing with the snow I am sure), and most people are going to Amsterdam. (It's only 2 hours away.) I would have been happy to go to either place, but I have worked out my own independent itinerary because of the fact that I have to go to Lauterbach on Friday ...
... This weekend coming is the free weekend. I am visiting Cori on Friday and staying over in Lauterbach. Then Sat I am going to Rothenburg, one of the prettiest and oldest villages in Germany, and from there to Wurzburg (they are the start of the Romantic strip of Germany). Sunday night I will head back to Essen.
And guess what? In 4 weeks today I am going to be back in the land of Aus!
Funny how time flies... Luv u all,
Sarah
... there had white hair and looked at us disapprovingly. The only 'young people' were couples of aybe 30 or 40 who were obviously there on dates and some of those ladies wore exquisite ball gowns. Guess what I was wearing...sneakers, jeans and a jumper!! Ooops!
La Boheme was really good. It helped to have the storyline of Rent in my head as we went. Some parts were a little confusing. The sets were amazing, costumes very simple for the artists and ...
... created out of the buildings of an old industrial factory. There were different rooms with different kinds of music. it turned out to be a great night, but yet again we were late getting into bed.
Saturday we were supposed to go on an excursion to see Burg Linn (a castle) but unfortunately because of the storm, the trains weren't running.
I will let u know what happened instead in my next email, gotta go and eat some lunch,
Sarah
Hi guys,
Don"t know if u have heard or not, but Germany is in the middle of a hurricane. 150km winds and severe warnings from the government to stay indoors. It was supposed to hit Essen really hard and we were all sent home from uni early and told to stay indoors. I really wanted to go online today to talk to u all like I said I would. Sorry guys!! I"ve just borrowed Tara"s laptop now. Mum, if u read this, send me a text message when u wake up so I can ...
... before I go to class. I can do it Thursday, but Friday I have a politics class starting earlier than usual, so my next time online will be Monday. I hope to chat with some of u...
So u want to know what I've been up to the last couple of days?
Nothing too crazy...
Monday I went to the movies to see 'Mein Fuhrer', a comedy about Hitler, made by Germans. I'm sure that u are all interested about how it was. Well ...
... the marketplace is cute and there is a great museum there called Haus der Geschichte. If u ever want to know about German history from 1948 to now and ur in Germany, I would definately recommend it! I regretted teh fact that I didn't get the 6 month scholarship to study here because it was a place that I could really see myself living. I even visited Beethovens house!
Sunday night we saw and add for the Opera Cosi Fan Tute in Witten and met at 6.30 to go there. We got to the Main ...
