Park Inn Arcachon

... dormi comme Joël au Marriage de p'pa, donc a terre sur mon ptit matelas gonflable avec mon sleeping bag.haha!! j'ai bien dormi quand même! Mais je me suis revenger a la plage, on a du passer peut-etre en 2 jours, 7h sur la plage a se baigner et a rester immobile sur la plage tel des morses au soleil. J'aurais passé l'année là je crois. ... so I returned to the yacht for a nap and to treat my sunburn. When I woke up, I was the only non-crew on the boat, and I only saw two crew aboard, the Duty Officer, and a stewardess. I found out that most of the guests and crew were at a little club/bar in Biscarrosse. So, around midnight I joined them and had a few beers before we all returned to the yacht for the night.

... the water. You can walk around them at low tide, and ride around them on a boat at high tide.

Arcachon
We returned to the yacht for dinner and then rode the tender to the little village of Arcachon. The water front has a large promenade with a casino at its center. Unlike Las Vegas, casino’s in France have a dress code so we had dressed up before heading out.

Anyway whilst climbing up one side is probably only 40 metres, once you get carried away and run down the other side to the beach, the climb back up feels a little bit like "Laurence of Arabia"

I had to wait till we reached the bottom before telling the other two i had no cash for ice creams! Might have been lynched!!

Man did we chew up some tarmac today!

On the way to Bordeaux, we visited Chateau Chenonceau - a huge amazing Chateau, although the furnishings were scarse. Then we motored all the way to the coast just outside Bordeaux.

Thanks to our French speaking maid (oops Jen) we found a little hotel and had dinner down at the waterfront. We had a bit of bad luck with the first one (they refused to serve us), but fortunately, we had some luck next door.

An early morning start saw us leave at 8:30am, and drive to Dune de Pyla, a huge sand dune on the coast. It is 117m high, and expanding by 4m a year and it has already swallowed up a hotel. We walked up it, but not down the other side to the beach, as our calves wouldn't have ever recovered.

A drive along the coast took us to Arcachon, where we had lunch on the boulevard ...

A friend said when the door opens, walk through it... I woke up this morning to a soaking wet tent... Remember that bottle of wine? Kinda wish now i hadnt drank it alone in the tent with the rain pouring down. what was i supposed to do? it started raining and i had to crawl in at 230 pm. There i stayed till 700am the next morn. It was sad when our time in Arcachon came to an end particularly given that we don't know when we will get to see Paul, Lucy, Will, Lily and Amaya again - we did some really hard sell about visiting us in Brisbane so hopefully that will pay off and we can return their hospitality very soon. The next phase of our holiday - the Italian adventure beckoned. Our trip from Bordeaux to Rome was via London Gatwick so on Wednesday ...
