On Tuesday I got up early to catch the Whistler Mountaineer train to Whistler. Great train ride, spectacular scenery along Howe Sound (actually a fjord) and another beautiful day. Once I got to Whistler I met up with Luke, who had gone there by bus, and we did a few walks around the place - there are a lot of walking/mounain bike trails around ...
... less so when I actually went to the Granville Island Markets the next day). After catching the ferry back I walked around Gastown which is the oldest part of Vancouver and has some very interesting sights including a steam powered clock. However it is slightly dodgy as you head west and so caution is advised. Vancouver has the most homeless people in Canada as it has the mildest winters despite being close to some of the largest mountains and thus best ski ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada julesjbWoke at 6:30 with lots of energy and a "carpe diem" attitude. Put on my walking togs and set out for a long walk in the park, after watching the Silver Shadow glide past on it's way to port. Chris and I both stood on the balcony and waved, thinking about our scheduled cruise on that line for next January. What a wonderful thing to look forward to!

... late in the afternoon and we drove out to C&L for the BC Day Sale and picked up a few DVDs. Fixed dinner and enjoyed the sunset.
After we went to bed we were awakened by bright lights on the roof of a nearby high-rise where they were doing a film shoot. Wondered if it might be the next season of our show "Intelligence"!

... and stayed with Rajivīs aunt and cousin for a couple of days. The drive, while taking about one hour, was filled with ominous signs about being prepared to put chains on tires, especially for trucks. This drive contained the longest incline we have encountered on our trip across the country. It felt like a half-hour steady climb, with my foot to the floor, and the van not getting any faster than 70-80 kph. When we got to Merritt, my aunt said that the road often closes ...

Then, as I approached the Hertz counter, the staff politely said, Hello Sir. Hope you had a nice flight! As for cars, all we have left is a Cadillac. Hope you don't mind the upgrade, courtesy of Hertz! Normally, I would be doing back flips. A Cadillac for the price of a ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ricknelsie... this time the bottoms of our feet started to hurt, including but not limited to our toes, calves and backs and we were still a mile away from the park entrance bus stop. We started the trek back and looked for any path to cut out a portion of the wall when we found the totem poles. There was also a bathroom which was filthy and had toilet paper on the floor of every stall. Nearing the entrance, there weren't any signs posted except for a map of the park with the "You are ...

I'm telling ya, we just had so much fun and laughs that people came to our table to hang out and enjoy. One lady even commented - you know I'm losing a bit of money but having such a good time, I just don't care! Well by the end of the night, even the wait staff kept lingering around every now and then. We got the last call for alcohol warning a couple times. So we decided to leave around 3:00am and ...

Nous partons demain en direction de Calgary pour voir les enfants. Un magnifique trajet nous attend dans les Rocheuses. Au plaisir. Hi folks. We finally arrived in Vancouver and will spend a couple of days with our ex-neibourghs, the Hutchins. The weather is still beautifull and Vancouver under a ...
