Day 50 - A Bike Ride to the Adriatic

... waters. There were plenty of oil rigs scattered about in the distant water. There was a haze in the distance limiting visibility. After a bit we walked our bikes back to the path and continued on towards the lighthouse on the pier at the marina.

Upon arriving we found the lighthouse was occupied by tenants (used for housing) and the waterfront plaza was like a ghost town. We rode around a bit then headed towards the ferry to check it ...

... of the mosaics look like paintings. The tiles themselves range from a quarter inch to half inch for images of religious figure. Larger tiles for floors. The size and number of mosaics is really impressive and must have taken a long time to complete. Kathy took a lot of photos of the sites we visited.

... upon a womderful little french themed italian restaurant where we were warmly greeted and had a great meal. The spagetti primi platti I had was divine and was simply egg spagetti, butter, pepper and flakes of parmesan. Something I have learnt on this trip is that the Italians do not drench their pasta with sauce, the sauce is actually quite sparse.

guys behind us were trying hard to catch up. But they couldn't... Eventually, Davide was dying of exhaustion and let them over take us. I couldn't stop laughing. After an hour, we were - especially Davide - exhausted so we took it back. It cost us 16 euro. Not bad! :)
