We are now booked to stay at Ulisse Deluxe Hostel for one week... is "deluxe hostel" an oxymoron?
Looking for some tips for what to do here... Capri? Amalfi? Positano? Anyone been and have firsthand knowledge?
... TravelPod" is a complete pain in the a@$ to use. For our 2010 "Radical Sabbatical" trip to Asia, I'm switching to another web service.
But, I've promised myself that I'll update this blog before we leave Naples...
... to Naples was really nice, passing through seemingly endless seas of vineyards flashing by at high speed.
Welcome Inn Hostel in Naples was cool too. An apartment converted into hostel but with good common area and roomy enough dorms.
Wandered around Naples and really like this city. Most exciting one so far in Italy. Some people had said not to go to Naples cause it was dirty and dangerous. Glad I didn't listen as it's my favourite city in ...
... umbrella and raincoat got soaked through to our underwear! Next day it rained hard too but did not mind a lazy day with no sightseeing. The city of Naples has a few nice areas but is a really dirty city and one day of sightseeing was plenty. Seeing Naples and Mt. Vesuvius from a distance is the best way to see them but south of Naples and the Almafi coast is not to be missed.
Naples, Campania, Italy pathenger... cross and then followed them.
The CitySightseeing buses were a great way to view the city in a short period of time. As the bus navigated around the city streets, we noticed that the car of choice was the smart car. Good thing! I could not imagine driving anything larger in this city! Parking was a premium everywhere! Anywhere you could find enough space the size of a throw rug, you ...
... a grotto below the Villa Arianna. For me, the excitement is really building as I watch this team assemble and prepare for their season of work. Dr. Southerland explained that the Maryland students, perhaps with our help, will be sampling the last layer of volcanic material and the surface of the soil in a large peristyle garden from the Villa Arianna. These samples will be sent to a lab to isolate biological materials in hopes of identifying the species ...
