Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Not quite.

... only as wide front to back as a little hatchback is from left to right, so we've seen them parked in some petty outrageous places! This is in spite of the average unleaded fuel price being around €1.55 per litre in Italy (or around $2.30 per litre in Australia). How they afford it is beyond me. Verona has been a very fast whirlwind stop. It's cold and drizzly and foggy, so definitely not comparable to a summer's day! There is a giant wall around one part of the city, and ...

... to the historic arena, locked up the gear and
started to stroll. We had a coffee in a pavement café in front of
the arena, and wandered down the shopping streets until we came
across the market square. More coffee, or maybe beer followed.
Every street we turned down led to a hidden square, fabulous old
architecture or something else of interest. This city proved to be
the unexpected gem of the holiday and it was a pity we did not have
      more time.

      ... the old castle
gates and another bar or two. At the end of a lovely day, we hiked
back to the hotel and sat on the roof top watching the sun drop in
the sky while drinking Prosecco. Our evening meal was in the pizza
restaurant near the hotel again. Unfortunately the friendly waiter
      was not there again.
      Having waited ten years
to see the Italian lakes, we were not disappointed. What a wonderful

      ... it was a wonderfully
attractive place, soon confirmed as we walked into the cobbled
streets border with cafés and shops. We spotted the ferry berth and
the approaching 1960s hydrofoil, straight out of a James Bond film.
We suddenly realised that we could make it after all and dashed to
the ticket office to get our hop-on hop-off all day tickets. The
boat paused briefly as we boarded and took off on a two hour trip to
the top of the lake. The waves rolling down ...
