    ... night off. I wasn't overly impressed with his yellow and blue wide-striped pyjamas, mind you.

    The home-stay host is an architect who regularly has people stay with him and his family. He cooked a really tasty evening meal for us and would take no payment for the night's stay. The only thing he asked was that I say a prayer for him when I get to Rome. He even stamped our pilgrim passports with a 'bunny rabbit' stamp his daughter likes to use when she's at home.     ... for now I'll say simply that I am well, I'm making good progess and tonight I am sleeping with four other pilgrims - including a very special one - in parish accommodation in Medesano, not far out of the city of Fidenza.

    ... even though it was very run down. It had a series of courtyards around it with boys playing cards and football set ups. The second church (Basilica Santa Maria de Campagna) was much bigger and in the centre of town. From the outside it was quite simple but they have recently restored the interior paintings so they were v vibrant.     ... we skipped the antipasti plate, instead we went straight for more tortelli, this time a mix of a pumpkin tortelli (a modern variation) and a traditional wild nettle variety. These were served without a sauce and I was informed weren't nearly as good as the ones the day before as the pasta was thicker. The pumpkin was lovely but the wild nettle were my favourite - it's hard to describe the flavour, it's subtle but just a distinctly different 'green' flavour to anything else ...

    ... so no passport checks, no customs or quarantine wanting to pull your bag open, nothing. From now on, I'm flying into Milano Malpensa more often!
