The road made its way up through a few old and wonderful streets of ancient Italian towns which certainly made it interesting but eventually there was a barrier across the road with a notice on it saying "Road closed, trespassers will be fined" and so it was back down the way I had just come all the way to Bormio.

With my head in a spin I stopped at a ...

0K. That was John speaking! We were having a fantastic day! It had dawned bright and sunny. Full sun. We could hardly believe our luck - our last day of hiking in the Dolomites and we were going to have a good one! All ten of us were in for this adventure and we were going high into the mountains one last time! Yea!

We had breakfast and then gathered in the parking lot to head off toward Poza, where we would take a ...

Trip from Salzburg to Lienz via Grossglockner

A travel blog entry by klooser on Sep 19, 2014

Weather sunny, very warm. Left Salzburg 10am, had a beautiful drive with colourful scenery to the toll gate for the Grossglockner Alpenhochstrasse. Leonie made the following observation of the magnificent drive: Not for those who do not like heights! Rally revheads behind the wheel of Porsche, and any others that go fast were a sight to behold and to get away from No marmots graced the hills with their ...

      Back to Austria?

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Sep 18, 2014

Time to leave Valle Verde. Decided to give Austria
another try as we are hearing that the weather has improved. However, with low
cloud this morning, there is little point in going over the high Dolomite
      passes.

Decided to go north through Moena and then west over a lower
pass to Bolzano. As expected, the low cloud made for little viewing of the
      mountain peaks.

Went north to Bressanone but stayed on a ...
