... on their tour of the champagne region. Delicious! We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which had tables outside by the lake. The meal was as delicious as the champagne had been. The next morning the weather was changeable. In fact there was an enormous thunderstorm which cracked right above us and sent us jumping in fright it was so loud. The rain came down in buckets but it was amazing to watch the clouds shrouding the mountains and then lifting and later ...

... and so the train makes a quick stop then moves off leaving six of us stranded in the carriage thinking what do we do now. The next stop is Bellamo just a few KM's down the line and the Poms had moved to another carriage in shame. That leaves us and the all American young couple. We have no trouble getting the door open and get off. We seek options on how to get back to Varenna from the station attendant. Take the next train going back, no it ...

The campsite was nestled along the lake and swimming in the clear warm water was a delight, even Joyce ventured in. The bar on the site had a really good atmosphere, a great location overlooking the lake and good food. In fact, on the Sunday afternoon when we arrived the place was jam packed and in the evening the locals came out and danced to Samba music and they were very good.

The views from different places around the lake were magnificent particularly when seen ...
