... quarter of an hour to reach the Vernauds’s house. On the way we crossed the border at an unmanned crossing point. They only do spot checks at this little out of the way crossings.

For breakfast we enjoyed bread and cheese, juice and strong coffee with milk. The quality of the milk in Switzerland gives their café au lait a particular and very pleasant taste. We talked around the table for more than an hour as we ate, ...

... traffic lanes. You have to do that because after that you get to speak to a human who will realise that you don't have a Flexiplus ticket.....
Today I leant that they have changed the machines so that they reject you if you don't have the right ticket...queue mild bollocking from a otherwise very pleasant lady...she still let me through though!

... steps and we were there. The owner vey obliging and allowed us to park in his garage .

This hotel I chose on price and the fact it is 400 yrs old , dark and gruesome looking inside . Perfect for Friday the 13th .David thought the stairs moved like out of Harry potter .

The village is a tourist town ,cobbled roads and a one way system .hard to get around but ...

... of the cafe and making our way back to the car we came passed a museum which told the local story of its part in the Battle of the Bulge. It must have been hard fighting in such hilly wooded terrain, much respect to the allies and to the American GI's who finally liberated Le Roche-en-Ardenne. We found the car and made our way back to site climbing back up into the cloud base and an afternoon watching the football and getting ready to move on down to Luxembourg tomorrow.
