... information. She comes back that there is a train in 40 minutes but it means that we have to change to a bus, then change to a train, then finally change to one more train. It will get us to our destination only 2 hours later. Not so bad.

So that is basically what we did. We wondered whether our tickets would be enough to get us through or if we would have to be paying more as we went ...

... Army, who were very suspicious and checked all our papers carefully, even calling there base to check over our passports. They predictably wanted to know what we were upto so we just played innocent. They were actually very nice guards and warned us to turn around as only the end off the world was on the road ahead! Sharon decided to tempt fate further, when they asked for the insurance document I turned to see she was quite obviously trying to take a picture of the situation on her ...

... ticket we needed was still on a regional train route which helped a lot with the price (Not to mention, each 25 Euro ticket was good for 5 people). After we got the ticket business figured out, we just stood around in the train station waiting for time to pass. The station and its waiting area were both open to the outside air (we had a roof, but not any walls) so it was a little chilly in there. You wouldn't think that there would be anything exciting going on in a ...

... economy by the early Polish governments, the city has turned from one of the most important cities in Poland to a relatively obscure has been. It was most glaringly obvious when I got off the bus for the first time in Szczecin and the first thing I saw was a fifteen foot tall rusting statue of a dock worker in typical communism artistic style. When you add the large commie blocks that are visible from anywhere in the city and the dark ...

... the train station. After some initial greetings we headed to their place for some food before doing some sightseeing. I really love having this kind of local support when getting to places unfamiliar to me. As for the city itself, Sczecin was a great positive surprise to me. I was expecting something gray and dull with lots of these terrible soviet like residential compounds. What I found, actually, was a city very much alike German cities with nice historical buildings ...

... noemen.

... pace also worked to our advantage : we could take a picknick and try one of the Polish national dishes : Bigos...a dish made with sauerkraut. In the evening we arrived at Anna and Tomek's in Szczecin (very difficult to pronounce - we are not responsible for any damage to your tongue), and they served us wonderful chocolate cake and cherries with alcohol. After that we visited the city and had a beer in a film café.
