... trip back to Lucerne was via a boat trip on the lake. Some of the houses were incredible. We even saw the house that the composer Wagner lived and composed in. We hopped off the bus in town and had a wonder around. Over the wooden bridge and along the river banks on our way back to the hotel. ... alpine horn blowing, yodelling, flag throwing and much singing and accordion playing. Kate had a go at the horn blowing but wouldn't try the yodelling, though several others did. At the end we had a surprise visit from a cow who ran around the room, licking everyone (it looked suspiciously like two people in a suit) and was very funny. ... and it is the steepest in the world. As the cogwheel ascended we experienced a beautiful array of panoramic views from the mountain side. This included a bird's eye view of Lucerne's wonderfully blue lakes and quintessential town. At times the cogwheel would be inches away from the rocky landscape where you could literally reach out and touch the snow and flowers passing by.
