... there last night (performances are booked out months prior), and a popular Italian singer was playing tonight to a full house. Even at the back of the amphitheatre, you felt you we're right at the stage, very personal. All Greek amphitheatre's have a great backdrop, this one is no exception...Mount Etna! To complete the wow factor, at the top the back of the amphitheatre gives stunning views of the coast in front and behind from so high up. You can ...

... about doing a "tour" around Palermo for a few Euro! After some bartering, we decided to take an "alternative" tour of the sights of Palermo. The opera house is ...

... in making visibility hard. It was also very very very cold, close to zero...unbelievably given it was 32 down at sea level only some 15 minutes away! I am glad we went up, as this volcano is such an important feature and part of Sicily. Back to Taormina for some tea, before onto the Villa. Off to the north part of the island tomorrow, so probably no blog tomorrow,as we may stay overnight up there. ...

Well bloggers, today was a hot one in more ways than one. Sicily showed it can dish up some heat...42C it got to today, right about the time we were walking through the ancient ruins at Siracusa. Day started rather late as Neil had a couple of things to attend to, so down towards the south of Sicily we went via the auto strad (freeway). It still took us around 90 minutes to travel some 100 kms (via Catania) to get there. Thank heavens the air con in the Volvo is good, ...
