Some entrants passed out hot kaffe-schnapps (Kafi Luz). I had a couple to warm up and that hit real fast. Coffee & alcohol with a kick. Definitely warmed up but declined any more or I would not be able to walk (and I can usually hold hard liquor ok... hmm... )
Entrants ran up to people (like us) and handed out candy, paper ads, fruit. The kid beside us raked in a good haul ...
... purchase it was! For the rest of the afternoon and evening we floated the Aare around it's main loop. Along for the ride were hundreds of other locals on everything from individual pool noodles to caravans of 8 to 10 passenger rafts tied together trailing waterproof coolers and sandal/clothing/towel containers. Now we've cooled down quite a bit, are ready for bed and are happy to hear it's supposed to rain overnight. Maybe it will cool down the air for our trip tomorrow...
