First celebrity spot!!
After dragging Alex to Macy's and managing a full half hour before he asked if he could wait in a coffee shop, we got the metro to Central Park and saw our first celebrity of the summer.....James Corden! It was only yesterday I was wondering whether we would see any celebs! Central Park was so nice and the weather was amazing today. This evening we …
Tag 2 in NYC
Day 25 New York City - Our final full day
We woke to beautiful snow falling over the city. Everything is covered white making the city look lovely and clean. This morning we took a short subway ride to 34th Street to visit famous Macy's Department Store where we had a coffee and purchased some last minute items. We then headed back up via the subway to the Upper West Side to check out the …
New York
Two nights and one day in New York to recover from the long flight before heading off to Canada. Stayed at the New York Palace Hotel with a lovely view of St Patricks Cathedral from our room. It was raining on our day in NYC but still a lot of snow around from the blizzard 2 days earlier. Walked to Grand Central Station and then had a walk through …
Ashley's American Adventure - New York City
So I figured that if I want to be a successful travel journalist, I should really start a blog. I used to write a lot when I was younger. My primary days were filled with non-fiction stories about vampires and candy, whereas my high school days portrayed more of a blog structure, things concerning life, emotions and well-being. I know I want to mix …

TravelPod Member ReviewsPark Central New York City
Met de fiets door Central park, makkelijk en mooi, alleen mag je niet met de fiets op de kleine paden rijden, spijtig maar wel begrijpelijk.

Just returned from a short stay at the Park Central Hotel. I reserved there because the room rates were favorable for a budget destination and it is centrally located in mid-town Manhatten in easy walking distance to all the theatres.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, curteous and professional. The room was large by New York Hotel standards with a big comfy bed. The accomodation was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was offered at the hotel as well as parking, although I did not use either.
The hotel is conveniently located 1 block from the Stage Deli, and a number of other reliable standbys for a delicious late night post theatre nosh, or early morning pre-departure breakfast.
If you're heading into New York for a quick theatre fix, the Park Central covers all the bases handily for a quiet and comfortable stay at a reasonable price. One note, on arrival I checked my cell phone for address confirmation and found a Google search for the Park Central produced an advertisement for "last minute rates" that were substantially below the price I had booked for from home that morning. I inquired on check in and the desk clerk directed me to "in house reservations" where one phone call produced an adjusted rate to reflect the advertisement I'd happend upon hours after booking.
The Park Central is easily accessable from Penn Station and Port Authority terminals.

Historical Traveler Reviews Park Central New York City
A Grand View of Times Square :)
My wife and I checked in for one night on the weekend of June 7, 2003. An efficient, but dour fellow behind the counter greeted us, and considered our request for a "room with a view". Coming up to our 21st floor room, we were not dissapointed. Not only was the room spacious - with a desk and plush reading chair (not to mention the extra pillows, blankets and bathrobe in the closet) - we were treated to a magnificent view of Times Square, right down 7th Ave. The washrooms were clean with plenty of towels and the beds were of above average comfort and king-sze to boot. The fridge leaked, but it was a mere annoyance, nothing to get too excited about. Park Central is close to everything - perfect fro urban walkers. The only drawback was an in ill informed and rateh rude lady at the tickets/transportation/concierge desk - once again a minor annoyance. And all this for $125 right off the hotel's own website. Highly recommended from two seasoned world travellers.
Worry free room! worry free cost!
Listen! If you are not super picky, a micro-manager, a neat freak or on prozac ...etc...You will like the Park Central. I am a born and raised native of los Angeles and have stayed at the finest hotels in new york and Los Angeles and Park central is of course not the finest but it is great if you want to stay in a nice hotel with nice rooms eloquent looby and classy staff. It is a quality hotel the is walking distance to times square, across the street from Carnegie Hall, walking distance to Burberry etc... I promise you you wont be disappointed!
Good find
After reading many reviews of numerous hotels in NYC we decided to stay here in March 2003. Great price $125 through the hotel website. Location is great for Times sq & Central park. Also right on the subway. Large welcoming art-deco style lobby. Rooms were clean with large modern marble bathrooms for NYC. Would stay here again.
Would stay here again
I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights in April 2003 using it as a base to explore the city. Having based my decision on reviews which I read on this site, I was generally pleased with this hotel. We had a standard room with two double beds which was fairly spacious and quiet as advertised. Having booked by internet I expected some problems but my booking was handled efficiently. Staff were pleasant without over doing it. Location is excellent, close enough to Central Park for a walk before breakfast - wonderful !, plenty of restaurants and shops, and also a subway station. The only downside was the view from our fifth floor room. This was my first time in New York and I would have no hesitation choosing this hotel again because of it's value for money. I did not get a chance to eat in the hotel.
Nice stay, good price
We stayed there 4/24 to 2/28 and really liked the hotel. I was a little nervous since the room was prepaid thru Hotels.com ($116/nite, 10% off for 3 nites), but it was fine! At check-in, we were upgraded to a "business suite" without even asking. Only wrinkle was the room is dominated by a large TV console/minibar at the foot of the king bed, so that created a pinch point, but the room and bathroom were a reasonable size (for NY), recently remodeled and very clean. It's a great location for visitng and the subway stops right on the corner. We're already planning our next trip and will stay again!
The heart of new york !
If you want it to experence new york at its best this is your place everything is within walking distance. ive allready booked my next vist!
Stairs would have been faster
Yes, this hotel has a fantastic location, steps from central park, times square and fifth avenue. unfortunately, my time was cut short visiting these places waiting for the elevator to my room. this is a very busy place so when one did arrive, you kinda had to push your way on to it. there was no "oh, you were here first, go ahead of me."
the rooms were medium sized, beds were really close to the floor, but things were clean. the staff were a delight.
Great location, good service
The location cannot be beat if you want to be near the theater district, central park, midtown. Our room was very adequate, clean and nicely decorated -- very modern. Not a big room, but we didn't spend a lot of time there, so it didn't matter. Nice king size bed, in room safe, toiletries provided. Restaurant downstairs was good. The staff was great downstairs (no problem checking our bags prior to check-in and after check-out while we roamed the city), but room service a bit slow -- would be great if the room had a coffeemaker. I would definitely stay here again!
Understated but nice.
Fed up with the smallness of W New York, moved to Park Central. Had to pay $230 for the sudden move, though I heard they have more attractive internet values.
Room was reasonably spacious (30sqm), the bed comfortable. Atmosphere was fine if low on the hipness factor. It is a price where one would expect a 5-star service in any other city, but in Central Manhattan this is probably a bargain. Much recommended for a (somewhat) budget-conscious traveller.
Stayed in Sept., 2002
Great Location
Location was key, close to Central Park, 5th Ave. and Times Square. Rooms were average sized and clean. Staff was friendly, but front desk was very slow.
