... firework show at 10 pm) they were opening late and only serving "la menu special" which was extremely expensive. It made sense because those restaurants had the best seats for the show. We ended up finding a great seafood restaurant right across the street from the beach. To obey dad's request, we ate slowly and had a real last Italian diner. We finished the night by watching the firework show, which was really beautiful on the water.

... Tonight on the Royal was 70s night. Not sure we would be up for the music bit as last time we attended a 70s night aboard the Island Princes, somebody forgot to tell the organisers that the 70s began before 1976!!! However, the evening started with a 70s trivia name that acoustic tune. This comprised of David playing an intro on his Ovation acoustic guitar and Dan, the Deputy Cruise Director acted as compare and quiz master. ... have a barbecue days before we came to Cannes and tonight was the night. With Imogen and I in the kitchen preparing nibbles and mojitos the boys fired up the tabletop miniature barbie. Not quite the same as what we would find in Australia but it seemed to excite Marin and Willy beyond reason. ... the Nice Opera and one of the many cathedrals in the area. We decided we would make use of our kitchen to cook a traditional French dish called a coq a vin. We looked up a recipe, along with one for sangria, and headed over to the monoprix to get what we needed. Apparently there is a shopping street quite near our hotel that is likely to be a good destination.....unfortunately, although we find the street okay, all the shops are closed on Sunday. We wander down to the marina and are not terribly impressed by the modern extravagance we see there, many massive yachts moored.
