    ... a diversion to Lyon and the two Nikon resellers there were both closed on Mondays!! We will try again in Reims tomorrow.     After speaking to some Aussies - Georgie convinced Tony and I to take a 45km ride to Col du Galibier (elevation 2600m). What we failed to realise was that it was a total of 98 round trip with 45km of climbing, through tunnels you could not see your hand in front of you face (at times).     Next day we travelled on through the Vendee and Charente Maritime regions with an evening stay at Rochefort. A very interesting town, haunt of Cardinal Richilieu, and built as a naval defence base by Louis XIV. Much more our style, because it was small enough to walk about admiring the historic buildings and to see the pleasure harbour, and small commercial port. And it's the French home of oysters...
