Today we decided to catch a train down to the Dubai marina - it's actually very cheap for public transport in Dubai, for a day pass for all zones and for both of us it only cost 32 dirham which is about $9 Australian. And we certainly made the most of our train ticket :-).

By the way the train system here is WAY more impressive than Melbourne...I know many people think it's improving, but seriously Dubai do it well. The train stations ...

... at the GOLD SOUKS. Here we were beckoned into their shops to spend our money. Some windows were laced with amazing pieces of jewellery. But no money spent at this time. With our gold shining eyes we travelled back to our hotel to get a bite to eat and hit the sack for an early night ( we thought). Dubai time was about 8.30pm but our body clocks were in the Perth time of 12.30am. Now that we an impressing day.

... other tourist traps - the tourist and the gold souks. The tourist souk sells pashminas, hammer trousers, table runners, and is probably the busiest (and hassly) of all the souks. Similar to the Spice Souk, the guys spring to their feet, lay a pashmina on your shoulder and try to build rapport. It wasn't our first time so we kept walking and on inspecting the prices; wasn't as cheap as we remembered either, so we moved on to the Gold Souk looking for a bargain. ...

After the 8 hour flight with no sleep from Melbourne, and a lady leaning her chair back almost the entire way, finally we arrived in Brunei airport. Here it is! (Literally the whole airport!!! Not really that exciting, especially considering it's 30 something degrees, high humidity, and basically no air conditioning. Watched ...
