We arrived at Narita airport and made our way (60+km) into Tokyo, and to our hotel. It is warm and wet. After checking into the hotel we set about learning the hows of the subway system and found our way to Ginza - which is quite close to our hotel in Shiodome. 30 June 2008 We woke early and by 5.30am were at the Tsukiji Central Fish Market - again only a short ride from the hotel. The fish market is every bit as amazing as the guidebooks indicate - the most amazing array and quantity of fish...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan clgsWell Guys just to let you know we have made it to Japan and more importantly to our hotel after a bit of frantic map pointing ! Hotel is great which we will need to savour as I don't believe the rest of our blogs will read the same , it is in a large tower and our room is on the 31st floor so we have some great views of the city. We caught up on a sleep on arrival then headed out for something to eat , luckily for us all the restaurants have plastic copies of the food you can eat so choosing ...
Tokyo, Japan jparkerOkay...we didn't quite start our travel blog like we wanted to because we couldn't find a connection! Anyways, after 12 hours of flying, we finally made it to Japan Monday evening on Dec.17. It is now Thursday morning and Ray and I are sitting in Starbucks while we have our americano and cappachino. He's planning our last full day in Tokyo while I update everyone where we've been all week. Day 1: Monday, December 17 We arrived at about 4pm, almost an hour ahead of schedule. It was amazing how...
Tokyo, Japan nhoang27Well after a bit of a wait at Heathrow and an 11 hour flight we arrived safely in Tokyo Narita airport. We managed to find our way on to the orange limousine bus (thanks Dan G for the tip), passing Tokyo Disney on the way straight to our hotel. We are a little bit out the main central Tokyo but our hotel is amazing. Both in desperate need of sleep especially Dee and peanut (who has been bouncing around like a mad baby!) After settling down a bit we went out to see the local area - managed to ...

... watching your screen as well (trust me they have enough employees over here..there are 10 people doing the job of one)! then if you write what they don't like they arrest you...you are guilty until innocent..and if you can't prove your innocence..they shoot you..then send the bill for the bullets to your family...they love to make an example of western tourists..and the corruption is obvious (in my opinion) if you look hard enough and see outside the box from what they ...
Tokyo, Japan laurs...arriving in one piece after changing seats on the plane to get a video screen that worked - half the fun of long haul- i had the fun of trawling through immigration to come out to a busy airport and swiftly realise that meeting Si `in the airport` when my plane got in was possibly a bit vague. Luckily Si was camped out where i randomly happened to walk and all was easy! With delays and all the usual we decided to take the easy option and book a ...
Tokyo, Japan lucytravels... Japanese. After this, we braved the Metra system in order to have a proper sushi lunch of a recommended sushi establishment. We went to Tokyo station and got a metro line after tranversing tokyo station through nearly thirty minutes worth of escalators and moving sidewalks. After taking the metra, we arrived at the proper place where the restaurant was, we quickly realized the no one in Tokyo has any clue how anything is organized or where anything is. There are ...
Tokyo, Japan zaidngreg... and department stores. Joanne and I have both been before, but it was fun to watch Jason and Amy experience it for the first time. Got back to the hotel by 7:30, met up with Brad and heading to grab some dinner. Went to an Italian restaurant (mostly because it was close) and split Pizza and Rissotto. On our way back we raided some convenience stores for a.m. goods, and called it a night! Good night Tokyo. Rehearsal starts tomorrow!!
Tokyo, Japan nyguy79... friends of Shiho and Yoshi were leaving Tokyo to go back to their home in the north, so we met up with them at a restaurant below Tokyo Station for an early lunch. After that we headed to the electronics hub Akihabara for a look at the latest gadgets. It was 7 floors of some pretty amazing stuff, but unfortunately I was only after an iPod cover and they were a bit pricey (not to mention made in China). We went to the ...
Tokyo, Japan kiemce... open to interaction. I am an oddity to be poked with a stick. One boy gave me a tasty ginger fig newton on the train. The girl he was with was very excited too. --------------------------------- The language barrier. I have been lax in learning Japanese phrases. I know hello, yes and thank you. Though i have gotten everything i need with few words, what is striking to me is the consistent response i get from the people i interact with, usually counter people ...
