Yesterday, I tried to fix my stay at a guest ranch in the Texas Hill Country. However, the ranch of my choice is closed for a week due to a family wedding. I have checked for alternatives, but I either do not like the ranch or it is way too expensive. Therefore, I will jump on a horse in New Mexico or Arizona. Naturewise I will like those states better anyways.
So, this forenoon I will hop in a bus to San Antonio. Jan 29th in the evening, I will fly to El Paso.
Oh my goodness! What a night! 8 girls in 1 room coming and going at any time of the night. Making loud noises, putting the light on, snorring crazy, clogging the toilet, jumping around in the upper bunk, very limited respect. Under these circumstances I had my difficulties catching sleep. Am I getting too old for a dorm?

... I may be rescued by donkey like Mum was. Climbing down seemed like too much effort anyway, compared to the main viewing point by the car park. It's actually very flat at the top but the neapolitan spectrum of deep reds, whites and browns can be seen for miles. This spectrum of colours are actually the sequence of rock layers that serve as a window in time.
The best part of that morning was the drive around the canyon edge and into the desert. The landscape ...
