In a nutshell- Cousin Corrado took us all over Lake Como, including to the castle where they filmed Casino Royale, and George Clooney's place! He took us up the mountain side. We always thought that we were at the top, but then we went higher! We went for a walk around the area. We went down to S. Segmente for an expresso and then up into the hills. We also went to Lugano Lido where Corrado works in Switzerland for a fun day of swimming. The ...

It's time to pack up and leave Venice to start the real road trip. We bought our tickets for the Ali Laguna (airport water bus) yesterday so are all set to pick our car up from the airport. We get on board no issues and watch as they put Paul's bag on top of a few others and it seems to hang precariously as we cruise along. Now we had some wet marbles to round up too. Tomorrow ...

... and watch the locals come in and out to enjoy their meals. One thing I am noticing is without wi-fi connections, we are both so much more aware of surroundings and people watching. For example, usually back home, when the person you are having a meal with goes to the restroom, you usually reach for the phone and start looking at email, texts, or Facebook to entertain you. I'm rediscovering the joy of just people watching, by not having the phone as an ...

    I Really Hate Being Short

A travel blog entry by becky_s on Aug 20, 2010

Usually I have class from 9-12 and 3-5, but today we had the afternoon off 1) because we did 6 chapters in 2 1/2 days and 2) because it's Friday!

Anyway, I was supposed to spend the afternoon biking to a nearby train station in Mendrisio to activate my Eurail pass and buy our tickets to Paris (more on that later) and then to the Italian border which isn't very far away. It would have been ...
