Cypress Hills inter-provincial Park

The next morning we headed to Cypress Hills, which climb out of the prairie near the Alberta border. The weather was starting to catch up with us now. It snowed and when we arrived in the township all was covered in beautiful fresh snow. While very attractive this did ...

From Customs to the Casino

... guard took the paperwork while a second one was opening trunks and checking the undersides of vehicles with a mirror on a stick. We didn't have a trunk so she poked around the bed of the truck. There was a tense moment when she came up with one of our diamond willow sticks, but the guard behind the glass recognized it as diamond willow and said, "It's ok." Whew. No threatened arrests, no bribes were necessary, and we were soon rollin' down highway 15 in Montana.

my bare foot trip to malta

... only problem seems to be
that barefooting isn't so popular among the younger generation: Once, I
asked a young guy, working at a garage for the way. Recognizing him beeing
barefoot (and having very dirty feet - he was just working on a car), I had
a conversation about barefooting at Germany and Malta, and was told that
many younger Maltese don't like barefooting very much.

Heading Home

... a problem we're having with the tail light of our tow vehicle.

The next day we avoided Calgary and headed southeast to the U.S. border across the backroads of Alberta. At one point we saw a sign that said no services or residences for 138 Kms or about 80 to 85 miles. You really should see this countryside. The road stretches for miles with nothing in sight but an occassional cow. We crossed the border into the U.S. at the Wild Horse crossing. We asked ...

Havre, Montana...the little town that couldn't.

... 10,000. It's an odd place…full of freight trains and pickup trucks, casino’s and fast food restaurants. We selected a Budget Inn….which at 52 dollars a night was dirt cheap. It was/is also awful. Sure it has wireless, but the place smells of smoke and everything is old, ripped, and tattered.

At least the journey here was nice! Montana is comprised of endless roads and open land ...

Havre RV Park

On the way to Havre we got caught up in construction and had about 10 miles of muddy dirty road which caked on by the time we hit Havre MT. So you know what we had to do to the truck and trailer. The worse thing is the main street running though town was being torn up and ...

MP 382 to Havre

May 23 was a stormy day in Joplin, Montana. In the photo, Don is passed by an 18-wheeler carrying an 83-ft long windmill blade. The windmills will be so huge that the container for the generators that will sit atop the windmills will be as large as a railroad car.

... steak, elk chops and venison sausage on my plate. I'm an ANIMAL! We also took in the local aquatic centre as there was no pool at our lux accomodations. And I learned somthing about Robb I never knew. Robb has never been on a waterslide! I couldn't believe it. I was almost in a state of shock. I grew up with waterslides....and I couldn't believe there was anyone...apart from kids in the Kalahari who have never been on a waterslide. So Robb got to do it for the first time in Jackson.
