Party Time!

Spent another night on a parking lot near the city centre. When trying to find a decent place to park our van near all the sights, we got caught up in a lybyrinth of narrow streets, filled with cars (sometimes even in the middle of the crossings...). Well, Boštjan is a very good driver, but my nerves are not as good as I thought.

With the help of a security guard at a bank in one of the ...

I had a Mary Moment

... Let me live in my ignorant bliss!

As we spoke, I realized that my Spanish worsens the longer the conversation becomes. After a while, my speaking is less deliberate, as I make the transition from translating everything between English and Spanish, to simply thinking in Spanish. As a result, I start making errors with gender and singular/plural agreement, and sometimes use the wrong verb forms. I guess that's the next hurdle with the language ...

FRYING EGGS ON THE SIDEWALK IN Zaragoza, Spain

... silver coffin or tomb, but it isn’t stated whose it is.

At the end of the church there is the Virgin Mary chapel. It is like a church within a church. We enjoyed our time inside looking at the architect, the wooden doors and the paintings, just a few pictures to look at. It was nice and cool inside.

We take a hotel for the night as it is now 35+ degrees. We will have a look around again tomorrow.

Hot Night

Boring long day on the A23, highest col 1223m.

Looking for aire in Zaragoza when Brits James, Clare and Katie in their motorhome took us under their wing to the park they'd already stayed in. Our Travels so Far

... were going to bush camp, no showers or toilets at times often weeks on end and having to dig the truck out of sand/mud, not having any decent washing facilities for months on end. We have got an advantage as have done the other trip before hand even though that will be a lot easier than this one, having 26 people on the trip you get to know everybody pretty well and work out personalities very quickly. On the 17th March we headed to Rabat the capital of Morocco there is no camp ...

... up for getting right amongst it with my second family, that of Elena, that treat me with such generosity, warmth, kindness and love its hard not to find it overwhelming at times and also later the dreading big 30th party with the other tribe that make Zaragoza such a joy to be here, all of Elena's friends, whom again are so great to be with its seems stupid to affiliate them with the prefix Elena when i say friends. Onward we go

... years old built of dry fit stone and stil standing: From Zaragoza we travelled ,ore easterly toward Lleida Catalan. Amongst the ochre coloured rocks and mist blue with mountain ranges were immense wind farms. Turbines and tozers several hundreds of feet high. Onward our lovely 1 litre Fiat Punta purred toward LLieda.

... entering the city. I instantly decided that if I ever made a list of women I'd travel back in time to sleep with, she'd be on it- it's not something I ever plan on doing, but still. I walked round the city for a bit before coming to the Plaza De Pilar, a truly amazing square on the banks of the river. In addition to several fountains and some Roman ruins, there is the massive Cathedral Des Pilar. According to legend, St James, one of Christ's apostles, had ...

first weekend

16.9.2007 It's barely the 16th because it's actually 12:47am but hey-I'm all for accuracy. This weekend was my first weekend "out" and it was so much fun! The culture here is SO different but I really like it. Last night we went to a bar/discoteca and it was really cool. There was a black light (which actually sucked because I was wearing a white bra with a black lacey shirt but whatevs) and loud music and a good amount of people. Most of the Spaniards were just pre ...

Sensational, Sunny Spain

... perched dramatically on a hill overlooking the fertile wine-producing valley of La Rioja. Like Pamplona, but on a much smaller scale, Briones had a fascinating charm of a pastoral Middle Age town in Europe. We dined in a cave-like cellar at Las Calaos Restaurant. Again, there was just so much to eat, and the robust flavors of this region were evident in the specialty dishes such as roasted lamb cutlets or pork with grilled potatoes. Just like before, some of us wanted ...
