There isn’t much to report from yesterday. It was basically a rest day that involved wandering around Morbegno’s streets as well as running a few personal errands.

Dinner was with Marina’s cousins again for more magnificent home-made food. This time it was some succulent turkey & chicken with chips, followed by bread, cheese & salami, and then a home-made tira misu. This was of course followed by a healthy serving ...

... to the main piazza (square). Here are all the main amenities - school, two shops, hairdresser, doctors etc. this is about the same distance above the main road as our apartment is below. From here we can see the castle across the valley of the stream which produces the waterfall (Orrido Di Nesso). We continue to climb up in the village. Home again to a shared dinner of cheeses, meats etc and a reasonably early night as Roger has another ride in the morning with ...

... track to the car - about 250 metres but rough, a little up and down but nothing like the our track to the piazza on the main road. But it does have one very steep set of stairs going under a house that is always a trial. We drive to Bellagio because we can catch the car ferry across the lake and then drive down the lakeside to the village of Agrengo. We decide to park the car in a real car parking area near the church. It is only a short walk for the boys and the girls are ...

Milan's cathedral; on the Milanese & Langusge

Milan's enormous Cathedral, the Duomo, is spectacular, and after its exterior restoration, completed a decade ago, it sparkles. The inside is undergoing restoration one gigantic pillar at a time. Until we saw a few of the freshly cleaned pillars we'd assumed that they were composed of some form of granite or other relatively plain stone. However, the freshly cleaned pillars are of the same marble as the outside, revealing streaks of white, ...
